Darlington Parklands
Darlington Parklands
Darlington Parklands offers multi-level water play areas, an adventure playground, great bike paths, outdoor gym and a large, grassy oval. Several gazebos with barbeques are located throughout the park, ideal for families wishing to enjoy both a picnic and play.
Water Play
At the top of the water play area, fountains release water that flows down tiers of steps / stepping stones into two shallow pools of water. One of these pools is an open play area and the other features a semi-circle of stepping stones. An area of water squirters is situated a few metres away, allowing use by multiple parties.
Exposed concreting has been used throughout these areas - whilst this surface reduces slippage, it can be quite painful when falls do occur.
Playground
Two play forts with tunnels, observation decks and slides particularly appeal to the younger visitors. More capable children can enjoy a large flying fox and netted climbing dome. A circular frame with multiple swings brings together children of all ages. Rubber-crete or soft pine bark cushions the ground under equipment.
White material sails provide sections of shade throughout the water play and playground areas.
Physical Activity
A large grassy oval provides endless opportunities for structured games or free play. Cycling / walking pathways travel around the oval and throughout the grounds. There's even an impressive outdoor gym!
General
There are several picnic gazebos with nearby barbecues. Despite this, early arrival or use of personal shade structures are recommended for weekends and school holiday periods.
A large toilet block with handicapped facilities and baby change rooms has been built to accommodate the high number of patrons to the park. Unfortunately, parking is somewhat limited.
