Coombabah Lakelands Conservation Area is a "must visit" for any nature enthusiast.
This stunning Gold Coast attraction boasts 1200 hectares of eucalypt forest, salt marsh, wetland and mangrove habitats. Most importantly, it is home to 274 species of animals.
There are eight trails, ranging from a quick stroll along the Melaleuca Boardwalk to the 2.6 km Koala Trail.
Visitors will be thrilled by the high number of resident kangaroos. These creatures can be spotted throughout the day, however, early morning and late afternoon are the best times to enjoy them. During these periods, hundreds of kangaroos can be seen grazing in the open grassy areas.
