JC Slaughter Falls Picnic Area
JC Slaughter Falls Picnic Area
JC Slaughter Falls Picnic Area is ideal for family gatherings, playgroup meets and nature enthusiasts. The highlight of this venue is the East Ithaca Creek, which flows throughout the grounds. The creek is generally dry, however, after periods of heavy rain, families can often be spotted frolicking in the shallow waters.
This venue features a nature-inspired playground, open grassy areas, cycling paths and an extensive network of bushwalking trails.
The nature play space is quite small but ideal for younger adventurers. It offers a low climbing net, a log balance, little wooden bridge, drums and steps through the garden. Children can also admire a collection of ornately carved totem poles.
Bushwalking options include the Hovea Track, Aboriginal Art Trail and the 750m trek to JC Slaughter Falls (please note that JC Slaughter Falls only flows after extensive rains). More capable hikers may be interested in a 2km uphill walk to the Summit Lookout. For further information, visit the Brisbane City Council website.
There are numerous picnic shelters and barbecues, easily accommodating multiple groups of visitors. The venue also offers toilet facilities and a large carpark.
