Tygum Lagoon
Tygum Lagoon
Tygum Lagoon is a stunning body of water with well-maintained surrounding parklands. Extremely popular with local families, it offers:
The Lagoon
1.3 kilometres of cycling/walking paths circumnavigate the lagoon, allowing visitors to appreciate the thriving wetland habitat. The track is relatively flat, comprised of concrete, small sections of boardwalk and a steel bridge. It is highly accessible for visitors requiring the use of prams, wheelchairs or bicycles.
A sheltered pontoon and wooden deck are ideal locations for resting and wildlife spotting. Tygum lagoon is well known for its abundance of resident birdlife species, including the locally beloved swans, geese and ducks. Plus, if you head down on the weekend or a Wednesday morning, you will most likely see the local Model Boat Club in action.
Playgrounds
Also overlooking the lagoon is a brightly coloured pirate ship play structure. Inspiring imaginative play, children can climb up to the viewing decks, navigate the steering wheel and check for danger using telescopes. Of course, what pirate ship wouldn't be complete without an enclosed slide and a cafe below deck?
Towards the other side of the park is a shaded playground that is particularly suitable for younger children. This features a smaller pirate ship play structure and a tower with various hands-on activities.
Nearby is a netted climbing structure and swingsets with toddler seats.
Finally, children of all ages can enjoy a basketball half-court and a small skate park.
